# What Fieldwerk is

Fieldwerk is a place for you and your AI to keep things, build knowledge and do work. Save anything worth keeping from a chat, then edit it, share it or bring it back into any chat. You can do all of it in Fieldwerk, or ask your AI to do it from the chat.

Everything you keep is a memo with its own link. Your AI, whether that's Claude, ChatGPT or another AI you connect, reads and writes memos with your access and nothing more. What you keep adds up to a body of knowledge that you, your AI and your team can draw on.

It's built for people who do much of their work in their AI and want to keep what comes out of it, especially in teams. It suits team leads who want their team's AI work to build on itself, and people who first meet Fieldwerk as a memo link from a colleague.

## What it's made of

- A **memo** is a document stored as plain Markdown, with its own link. You, your team and your AI can edit it at the same time, and every change is kept.

- A **collection** groups memos about one client, product or team. It isn't a folder, because a memo can be in several collections at once. A collection decides who can see its memos, tracks properties like status, shows them as a list, board or table, and carries standing instructions that tell people and their AI how it's used.

- A **workspace** holds your collections, your team and your plan.
