Get better results by bringing better context in

Your AI does its best work when it starts with the right context. Before you begin, hand it the memos or collection that matter instead of explaining everything again. At the end, save what's worth keeping. Better context in gets better work out, and what you save gives the next chat more to start from.

You choose what comes in and what gets saved. Plenty of chats are throwaway, and that's fine.

Bring the right things in

  • Paste a memo link. Your AI reads the memo and works from it. A few links bring in exactly what's needed.

  • Point it at a collection. Your AI can read the collection's memos, and its standing instructions tell it how that work is done. See Give a collection standing instructions.

  • Or just ask. Your AI can search everything your account can open and pull in what's relevant. See What AI assistants can do in Fieldwerk.

What you bring in doesn't have to be yours. A guide, a prompt or a reference a teammate wrote works just as well, as long as it's shared with you.

Save what comes out

When a chat produces anything worth keeping, save it as a memo or add it to one you already have. File it where the next chat will find it. See Your first week with your AI assistant for prompts that save from a chat.

Over time, the collections you bring in hold more of what you've worked out, so you spend less time explaining and more time on the work.

Start a chat with the right context

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, before we start, show me my collections and ask which ones relate to what I'm working on. Read the memos and standing instructions there that matter for this task, and tell me in a few lines what you've picked up before you begin.

End a chat by keeping the good parts

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, suggest what's worth keeping from this chat, either as a new memo or as an addition to a memo I already have. Ask me where each one should go, and save only what I agree to.
