Start in a workspace you've been invited to
Click Accept invitation in your invite email, sign in or sign up with the address it was sent to, and click Join with the workspace's name. You land on All collections, showing the collections you've been given. Open one and read its standing instructions, connect your AI, and ask it to walk you through what's there.
What you'll find
Memos. A memo is a simple document with its own link, stored as plain Markdown, the format your AI already works in. You, your teammates and your AI can read and edit it, even at the same time.
Collections. Related memos are kept together in collections. A memo can be in more than one collection at once. A collection can show its memos in different views, such as a board or a timeline, with properties such as status, owner or due date.
Standing instructions. Many collections have a note explaining how they're organised and how to work in them. It's written for people and AIs alike, so it's the best place to start.
Comments. Comment on a memo the way you would on a shared document, whether the work is a teammate's or an AI's. You can read, reply to and resolve comments in Fieldwerk, or have your AI do it from a chat.
What you can see and do depends on the access you've been given. Some things you might only be able to view; others you can comment on or edit. See How member types work.
Join the workspace
Open your invite email and click Accept invitation.
Sign in, or sign up with the email address the invite was sent to.
Click Join with the workspace's name. You land on All collections.
You also get a workspace of your own when you sign up. Switch between the two from the workspace name at the top of the sidebar.
If you were invited to a single memo rather than the workspace, you'll find it under Shared with me instead.
Read the standing instructions
Open a collection, then open Collection settings and choose Instructions to see how the collection is meant to be used. See Give a collection standing instructions.
Connect your AI and let it show you around
Connect your AI so it can read and work in the workspace with your access. If you use Claude, add Fieldwerk from Claude's connector directory; see Connect Claude to Fieldwerk. For ChatGPT, see Connect ChatGPT to Fieldwerk, and for other tools, Connect other AI tools to Fieldwerk.
Then ask it for a tour:
In Fieldwerk, introduce me to my workspace. List the collections I can see and what each one is for (read their instructions), what's changed this week, anything waiting on me, and where I should start. Don't change anything. From then on, point your AI at a collection at the start of a chat, by pasting its link or naming it, and it can start from what the team already knows. See Bring a memo or collection into any chat.
For how workspaces, collections and notebooks fit together, read How Fieldwerk is organised.
