Getting started

Get started with Fieldwerk

Sign up free, connect your AI, then let it save your first memo. Fieldwerk lets you and your AI keep what's worth keeping from a chat, so you can edit it, share it and bring it back into any chat. These seven steps take about five minutes. New to the idea? Read What Fieldwerk is first.

Invited by someone else? Skip to If you were invited.

1. Sign up

Go to fieldwerk.ai and sign up with your email address, or your Google or Microsoft account. It's free to start. Fieldwerk creates a workspace for you, named after you, and you land in it on My memos. A short setup window lets you give the workspace a name and picture; click Done or skip it, since both can be changed later in settings. There is no sample content, so your first memo is yours.

2. Connect your AI

Connect your AI before anything else, so it can write, file and find memos for you. If you use Claude, add Fieldwerk from Claude's connector directory. Follow the guide for yours:

For another AI tool, see Connect other AI tools to Fieldwerk. Then, at the end of a useful chat, try it:

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, save a summary of this conversation as a memo, with the decisions as a task list.

Read more: try the prompts in Your first week with your AI assistant.

3. Write your first memo

Ask your AI to write it, or click New memo in the sidebar, type a heading for the title, and start writing. Type / for headings, lists, tasks and tables. Fieldwerk saves as you type.

Read more: Create and edit a memo and Format a memo with headings, tables, images and more.

4. Bring it back into a new chat

Open a new chat, paste the memo's link, and ask your AI to carry on. It reads the memo and picks up where you left off, without you explaining it all again.

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, ask me for a memo's link, then read it and carry on from where it leaves off. Tell me what you plan to change before you edit it.

Read more: Bring a memo or collection into any chat.

5. Put it in a collection

Collections group related memos, such as a project or a client, and a memo can be in more than one. Ask your AI to make one and file the memo, or click New collection in the sidebar, then open your memo and click + Add to collection.

Read more: Organise memos into collections.

6. Share it

Open the memo and click Share. Invite someone by email, or turn on the link so anyone who has it can read it.

Read more: Share a memo with a link or with people.

7. Let your AI show you around

In a new workspace, ask your AI to help you set it up:

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, look at my workspace and suggest how to organise it, including which collections to make and what standing instructions each should have.

In a team workspace, ask it to walk you through what's there:

Try this with your AI assistant
In Fieldwerk, introduce me to my workspace. List its collections and what each one is for (read their instructions), what's changed this week, anything waiting on me, and where I should start.

Then bring your team

To work together across collections, upgrade the workspace to Pro and invite people. See Invite people to your workspace and Choose a plan and manage billing.

If you were invited

When someone invites you to their workspace, you start in their collections rather than an empty workspace. Click Accept invitation in your email, then follow Start in a workspace you've been invited to. If you were invited to a single memo, you'll find it under Shared with me.

From there, Write your first memo and Share it work the same.
